When PTSD strikes I return to the past.
It is hard to remain in the present.
I have to try to latch on to the present, and fulfill the duties required of me.
I have to manage the emotions which threaten to overwhelm me.
If I am out, then I have to try to find a safe place to go to, to calm myself down.
If I am at home, I might go into the garden.
I light candles and incense, both of which help to calm me down.
I make a cup of tea.
